In the upcoming second phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 26, 22 candidates vying for the 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency will be decided by a staggering count of over 17.80 lakh eligible voters. This constituency spans across 18 Assembly segments situated in four districts: Reasi, Samba, Jammu, and Rajouri.
According to official figures released by the Returning Officer of 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, the total number of registered voters stands at 17,80,835. Among these, there are 9,21,095 male voters, 8,59,712 female voters, and 28 transgender electors. In addition, 37,822 service voters, including 37,025 male and 797 female, are also part of the electorate.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 2416 polling stations throughout the constituency to facilitate the voting process.
Among these, there are 18 Green Polling Stations, 46 Pink Polling Stations, and 18 polling stations specially manned to assist Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
Breaking down the constituency further, Reasi district comprises three Assembly Constituencies: Gulabgarh (ST), Reasi, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. It accounts for a total of 2,35,262 voters, including 1,23,323 male, 1,11,936 female, and three transgender voters. Additionally, 1393 service voters, comprising 1364 male and 29 female, are included in this count.
Samba district, with three Assembly Constituencies – Ramgrah (SC), Samba, and Vijaypur – boasts 2,59,198 voters. Among them, 1,32,861 are male, 1,26,336 are female, and one is a transgender voter. This district also has 10,269 service voters, consisting of 10,073 male and 196 female voters.
Jammu district, the most populous among the four, encompasses 11 Assembly Constituencies. It is home to 11,89,389 electors, comprising 6,13,988 male, 5,75,378 female, and 23 transgender voters. Additionally, 24,315 service voters, with 23,768 male and 547 female, are part of this district’s electorate.
Rajouri district, with only the Kalakote-Sunderbani Assembly Constituency falling within the Jammu PC, houses 96,986 voters, including 50,923 male and 46,062 female voters, along with one transgender voter. Furthermore, 1845 service voters, comprising 1820 male and 25 female, are included in this district.
The RS Pura-Jammu South Assembly Constituency holds the distinction of having the highest number of voters at 1,24,744, with 64,687 male, 60,054 female, and three transgender voters, along with 1592 service voters.
Conversely, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly segment in Reasi district has the lowest count of 55,737 voters, with 29,340 male, 26,397 female, and 271 service voters. Across this segment, 91 polling stations have been set up by the election authorities.
