An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and joint security forces at the Check Mohalla Nowpora, Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The encounter started after a search operation was launched in the area.
More reinforcement was rushed to the spot, even as massive firing continued from both sides post midnight on Friday.
A top commander was believed to be trapped in the encounter at Sopore and two Army jawans were injured and shifted to hospital. As per the media sources, two terrorists were killed in the firing and a civilian was injured as well.
Residential areas near the encounter spot were being monitored with many drone cameras by security forces throughout the encounter.
According to the reports from Ground Zero, two anti-terror operations were underway in north Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora and Sopore on Thursday.
The Kashmir Zone Police posted on X on Thursday, saying, ‘An #encounter has started at Check Mohalla Nowpora in the area of PD#Sopore. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice”.
Police and security forces are on alert at the Check Mohalla Nowpora.
