Amid continued military actions in Kyiv, the Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has dismissed any possibility of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
According to a report by Russia-based TASS, Peskov stated that there are currently no grounds for talks, emphasizing Ukraine’s firm stance against negotiations. He reiterated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s position on the matter, highlighting a recent conversation between Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
During discussions on April 11 at the Kremlin, Putin reiterated Russia’s willingness to seek peaceful conflict resolution, consistent with its previous stance.
Lukashenko proposed using the Istanbul agreements from 2022 as a basis for initiating negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. However, Peskov maintained that the Russian stance remains unchanged and consistent.
Amid the ongoing hostilities, reports emerged of an overnight strike by Russia targeting the Burshtyn thermal power plant in the Ivano-Frankovsk Region of western Ukraine.
A spokesperson for the pro-Russian underground resistance confirmed the attack, stating that explosions were observed in the town of Burshtyn, where the power plant is located. The spokesperson indicated that the power plant was hit by missiles during the strike.
Furtherly reports detailed additional strikes by Russia, including five missiles hitting Dnepropetrovsk and a powerful explosion in Krivoi Rog. The majority of the missiles reportedly struck Stryi town in the Lvov region.
This comes after the destruction of the Tripolskaya thermal power plant in a previous strike on April 11. On the same day, the Russian defense minister claimed that the strikes on Ukrainian fuel and energy facilities were in response to Ukraine’s alleged attempts to target Russia’s oil and gas industry sites.
