Jaishankar’s book, ‘The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World,’ released in 2022, delves into Bharat’s approach to navigating the complexities of international relations. At the times of its launch, he presented the first copy to PM Modi, noting its importance in shaping Bharat’s foreign policy outlook.
Jaishankar unveiled his second book, “Why Bharat Matters,” in 2024. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2024, he distinguished between the two works, revealing that while the first book focused on ‘the way,’ the second emphasizes Bharat’s profound influence on people’s lives.
He underscored his intentional use of ‘Bharat’ in the title, symbolizing a transformative shift within Bharatiya society, politics, and global engagement.
Explaining his choice of terminology, Jaishankar emphasized the deeper cultural and traditional roots embedded in the term ‘Bharat.’
He expressed that the thought processes guiding Bharat today are more authentic and deeply rooted in the country’s heritage. By using ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India,’ Jaishankar aims to capture this evolving narrative, reflecting a broader societal and ideological transformation.
During his interaction with WASP participants, Jaishankar likely elaborated on the core themes of his books, providing insights into Bharat’s evolving role in the global area. Geopolitical dynamics, strategic alliances, and Bharat’s response to emerging challenges are crucial topics addressed in both his literary works.
By engaging with military and strategic experts, Jaishankar seeks to foster a deeper understanding of Bharat’s foreign policy objectives and its implications for national security.
The dialogue between Jaishankar and the participants underscores the significance of interdisciplinary discussions in shaping strategic thinking. As Bharat navigates a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, such engagements play a vital role in aligning national interests with global realities.
Jaishankar’s efforts to bridge the gap between academia, policymaking, and military strategy reflect a holistic approach to address contemporary challenges effectively.
Jaishankar’s engagement with the IAF’s Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Program highlights the multifaceted nature of Bharat’s strategic discourse.
By leveraging his expertise and insights from his books, Jaishankar goals to empower future leaders with a nuanced understanding of Bharat’s role in shaping the global order. As the country continues to chart its path in an uncertain world, such engagements serve as crucial platforms for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic foresight.
