Soon after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a $1.1 billion loan tranche loan for Pakistan, which has been reeling under a severe economic crisis, the country’s opposition leader slammed PM Shehbaz Sharif while drawing a stark comparison between “superpower” India and “cash-strapped” Pakistan. Pakistan’s opposition party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan’s President, Maulana Fazlur Rehman mocked the ruling party saying that even though both countries gained independence together, India has become a superpower, while Islamabad is “struggling” to avoid bankruptcy.
