Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lashed out at the Congress party during his public addresses in Bihar, accusing them of misleading the public with promises of religion-based reservation.
He emphasized that such reservations are not supported by the Constitution. Addressing gatherings in Saran and Supaul constituencies, Singh put up a question on the integrity of parties advocating for these reservations, urging them to engage in honest politics instead of deceiving the citizens.
Singh specifically targeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), cautioning young voters against the return of what he called the ‘Lalten Yug,’ referring to the RJD’s poll symbol.
He criticized the practice of politicians accused of corruption seeking votes and appealed to the people of Bihar to bring about change by supporting candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Campaigning for Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a candidate from Saran constituency, Singh praised Rudy’s credentials as a trained pilot and expressed confidence in his ability to excel.
Singh also took aim at the Congress party’s proposal for an ‘inheritance tax,’ citing remarks made by Bharatiya Overseas Congress President, Sam Pitroda. He argued against such a tax, suggesting it would discourage investment and savings, echoing concerns raised by economists.
Modi Government’s Poverty Alleviation Efforts Highlighted
Singh shed light on the achievements of the Modi-led government, contrasting it with the efforts of previous administrations. He asserted that while former Prime Ministers like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Manmohan Singh had pledged to eradicate poverty, they had not succeeded.
In contrast, Singh praised the Modi government’s track record, claiming to have lifted 25 crore citizens out of poverty.
Loss of Credibility for Congress-RJD Alliance
Singh in his address reiterated his criticism of the Congress-RJD alliance, claiming that they had lost credibility with the electorate. He dismissed their promises of development, alleging that those accused of corruption were spearheading their campaign.
Singh emphasized the clean governance record of both Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s and Narendra Modi’s governments, asserting that no minister had been implicated in corruption scandals under their leadership.
