Bharat and Indonesia convened for the seventh Bharat-Indonesia Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting, marking a significant step towards bolstering their collaboration in defense.
Chaired by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Indonesia, Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto, the meeting focused on elevating cooperation in the defense industry, maritime security, and multilateral engagement.

Both countries expressed contentment with the growing breadth of their defense cooperation, reviewing progress on bilateral defense initiatives discussed in previous meetings of Working Groups on Defence Cooperation and Defence Industries Cooperation.

The meeting also delved into strategies to augment existing collaboration, particularly emphasizing defense industry ties, maritime security, and multilateral engagements.
During Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto’s visit, he toured key defense facilities in Bharat, including the DRDO headquarters in New Delhi, as well as TATA Advanced Systems and L&T Defence facilities in Pune.
In addition, he engaged in discussions with prominent Bharatiya defense industry partners like Bharat Forge, Mahindra Defence, and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, exploring avenues for enhancing defense industrial capabilities through joint research and production. His itinerary also included a meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.
Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto’s three-day visit to India from May 2 to 4 underscored the importance of bilateral defense cooperation. He paid homage to fallen heroes at the National War Memorial, New Delhi, symbolizing the deep-rooted solidarity between the two nations.
Bharat and Indonesia share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and a unified vision for the Indo-Pacific region. This partnership is marked by robust cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral spheres, characterized by frequent high-level interactions.
Indonesia’s role as a crucial partner in Bharat Act East Policy and the broader Indo-Pacific region further underscores the importance of their collaboration.
