On Tuesday West Bengal is leading the voter turnout in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections at 14.60 % till 9:00 AM, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Madhya Pradesh is also witnessing a high voter turnout of 14.22 %. Maharashtra has recorded the lowest turnout till 9 am at 6.64 %.
Voting percentages for other states participating in the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls at 9 am are Assam- 10.12 %, Bihar- 10.03 %, Chhattisgarh- 13.24 %, Goa- 12.35 %, Gujarat- 9.87%, Karnataka- 9.45 %, and Uttar Pradesh- 12.13 %.
Union Territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu recorded 10.13% voter turnout till 9 am. Notably, the overall voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was over 67 %.
Meanwhile, the polling started for 93 Lok Sabha seats across 12 states and union territories in the third phase of the general election on Tuesday at 7:00 am. In this phase, more than 1300 candidates, including around 120 women, are in the fray.
The poll panel said, ‘A total of 17.24 crore voters are eligible to cast their franchise in this phase at 1.85 lakh polling stations. Seventy-five delegates from 23 countries will see the poll process’.
