Recently in a statement, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed allegations made by Britain regarding Russian involvement in an arson attack on a Ukrainian-linked commercial property in London.
Zakharova labeled the accusations as “absurd” and claimed they were part of an ongoing information war against Moscow.
According to Zakharova, Russia vehemently denies any involvement in sabotage attacks against civilian targets, emphasizing that such actions go against their principles. She criticized the British allegations as provocative and lacking factual evidence to support them.
The case in question involves the charging of a man by British authorities over alleged hostile state activity intended to benefit Russia. This activity purportedly included recruiting others for the arson attack on the commercial property.

Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed deep concern over the allegations and summoned Russia’s ambassador to London to address the issue.
Zakharova condemned the allegations as part of a broader campaign of “anti-Russian hysteria” orchestrated by Downing Street. She characterized the attempts to link Russia to the arson attack as “pathetic” and urged Britain to cease its hostile rhetoric.
Relations between Russia and Britain have been strained for some time, particularly since the onset of the Ukraine war. Tensions have escalated further as London has actively supported Ukraine through arming and imposing sanctions against Moscow.
Despite the diplomatic tensions, Russia continues to deny any involvement in the alleged arson attack and maintains its stance against what it perceives as baseless accusations aimed at undermining its reputation. The dispute underscores the ongoing challenges in Russo-British relations amidst broader geopolitical tensions.
