In a step to foster a stronger relationship between China and Bharat, Xu Feihong, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Bharat, arrived in Delhi on Friday. Expressing his eagerness to collaborate diligently, Xu conveyed his gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs official and Eritrea’s Ambassador to Bharat, Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, who welcomed him upon his arrival at the airport.
In addition, he acknowledged the warm reception extended by officials from the Chinese Embassy in Delhi.

Xu Feihong, who assumes the role as the 17th Chinese Ambassador to Bharat, succeeds Sun Weidong, who concluded his tenure in October 2022. Notably, Sun Weidong played a pivotal role during a challenging period characterized by tensions following the Ladakh border clash in 2020.

The relationship between Bharat and China has been marked by ongoing diplomatic and military engagements since April 2020, particularly regarding the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Bharat-China border areas. Most recently, in March, both countries exchanged perspectives on achieving complete disengagement and resolving issues along the LAC in the Western Sector.
A significant development in this trajectory was the 29th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on Bharat-China Border Affairs (WMCC) held in Beijing on March 27. During this meeting, representatives from both sides engaged in substantive discussions aimed at advancing the process of disengagement and addressing lingering issues along the LAC in the Western Sector.
The meeting, co-chaired by the Joint Secretary (East Asia) from the Bharatiya Ministry of External Affairs and the Director General of the Boundary & Oceanic Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, witnessed a comprehensive exchange of views.’

Both delegations explored avenues to facilitate complete disengagement and resolution of remaining challenges in the border areas.
Following the discussions, Bharat and China reached a consensus to maintain open diplomatic and military channels to ensure peace and tranquility along the border. This commitment underscores the shared objective of both countries to uphold stability and cooperation in the region.
With Xu Feihong assuming his responsibilities as the new Chinese Ambassador to Bharat, there is renewed optimism for constructive engagement and collaborative efforts between the two neighboring nations. As he embarks on his tenure, Xu’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties reflects a commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding between China and Bharat.
