Amid the escalating Israel-Hamas war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has acknowledged some responsibility for the failure to anticipate Hamas’ devastating October 7 massacre in his country.
In an interview with “Dr. Phil” McGraw, Netanyahu admitted government failures in protecting the people.
When pushed further about his personal responsibility over the matter, Netanyahu finally admitted his failure to oversee the attacks. “I hold myself and everyone on this. I think we have to examine how it happened. What was the intelligence failure?” Netanyahu responds.
While senior officials had previously taken accountability, this was Netanyahu’s first admission of failure. He stressed the need for a thorough examination of the failures and vowed to achieve victory in the ongoing conflict.
Netanyahu also addressed tensions with US President Joe Biden over Israel’s potential ground assault in Rafah, reaffirming their strong friendship but asserting Israel’s determination to protect itself.
Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden warned Israel that it would halt military supply to the Jewish nation if it conducted the ground operation in Rafah.
Despite Biden’s warning to halt military supply in case of a ground operation, Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s commitment to defeat Hamas. He criticized world leaders for wavering under propaganda, reaffirming Israel’s resolve in the face of external pressures.
