As Bharat prepares for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, a clash has broken out between workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and villagers in Dakshin Bhebia village, located in the Basirhat Uttar Assembly constituency of West Bengal.
The incident reportedly occurred when TMC workers allegedly attacked a group of devotees who were participating in Harinam Sankirtan, a religious ritual popular in Bengal inspired by Vaishnava traditions.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, shared by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the attack was supported by local police. According to the BJP post, the TMC workers disrupted the Harinam Sankirtan celebration and warned the devotees to remove all necessary items, asserting that the police backed their actions.

The BJP post stated, “TMC goons couldn’t bear Hindus celebrating Harinam Sankirtan… With full support of the police… they attacked the devotees and warned to take away all the necessary objects if they rebelled to start the program.”
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress, accusing the state government of discriminating against Hindus in West Bengal. Addressing a rally in Barrackpur, PM Modi alleged that under the TMC regime, practicing one’s faith has become a crime, with restrictions on mentioning Lord Ram and celebrating festivals like Ram Navami.
PM Modi further lambasted the TMC, Congress, and Left parties, claiming they had surrendered to an appeasement policy and engaged in ‘Vote Jihad’ against the BJP.
He highlighted the plight of Hindus in Bengal, stating they have become “second-class citizens” under TMC rule.
Regarding recent incidents in Sandeshkhali, PM Modi condemned the atrocities and criticized TMC for allegedly shielding perpetrators. He accused TMC’s goons of intimidating women in Sandeshkhali and criticized the party’s efforts to protect a criminal figure for political gains.
The clash in Dakshin Bhebia and PM Modi’s remarks underscore the escalating tensions between political parties in West Bengal ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The state has become a battleground for political rhetoric and clashes, raising concerns about communal harmony and law enforcement impartiality.
