The fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections kicked off today in 96 constituencies across nine states and one union territory, while Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are also holding elections to their state assemblies simultaneously. 10.4% voter turnout recorded across 10 states, and union territories till 9 am. As of now, three phases of elections have already taken place.
Taking to microblogging platform X, PM Narendra Modi encouraged Indian citizens to bolster democracy by turning out in large numbers to vote in Phase 4. Additionally, he voiced optimism about the participation of young and female voters at the polling stations. Meanwhile, considering the state assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, PM Modi urged first-time voters to exercise their adult franchise in record numbers. “Your vote is your voice—let it be heard loudly and clearly,” PM Modi asserted.
The states that are going into polls in the 4th phase are Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir. The voter turnout in the first three phases of the Lok Sabha polls was 66.14 percent, 66.71 percent, and 65.68 percent, respectively.
The Election Commission had declared that the voting for Lok Sabha elections this year will be held in seven phases, and the results will be out on June 4. PM Modi-led NDA is eyeing a third term with the motto “Abki Baar 400 Paar”, while the INDI Bloc, led by Congress is looking to regain its long-lost power.
