Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for his nomination filing from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, a constituency where he has secured resounding victories for two consecutive terms. A day preceding the filing, PM Modi orchestrated an extravagant 6-kilometer-long roadshow, pledging enhanced developmental initiatives for the city if re-elected.
In the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks a third term from Varanasi. In the 2019 polls, Modi clinched Varanasi with a substantial margin, amassing over 6,74,664 votes and a vote share of 63.6 percent. Notably, in 2014, Modi contested from both Varanasi and Gujarat’s Vadodara.
PM Modi’s principal opponent in Varanasi is Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai, marking Rai’s third consecutive contest against Modi in a Lok Sabha election.
Varanasi is slated for polls in the seventh and final phase of the election on June 1.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Itinerary for Today: Prime Minister Modi will commence his day by visiting the Kaal Bhairav temple before filing his nomination papers on Tuesday. A visit to the Dashashwamedh Ghat along the Ganga river is scheduled around 9 am. The itinerary includes a cruise trip to Namo Ghat before the nomination filing. Following the nomination process, Modi will convene with BJP workers at the Rudraksha Convention Centre. In observance of Ganga Saptami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to partake in a ritualistic dip in the Ganga river.
Attendees at PM Narendra Modi’s Nomination Filing: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will accompany Prime Minister Modi for his nomination filing. NDA allies, including Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, LJP chief Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (S) president Anupriya Patel, and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Omprakash Rajbhar, are anticipated to be present. Additionally, chief ministers Yogi Adityanath, Nitish Kumar, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mohan Yadav, Vishnu Deo Sai, Eknath Shinde, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Himanta Biswa Sharma, Nayab Singh Saini, Pramod Sawant, Prem Singh Tamang, and Manik Saha are also likely to attend.
Prime Minister Modi is slated to file his nomination after offering prayers to the Ganga river at Dashashwamedh Ghat, with the program commencing at 9:15 am.
