Recently, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has admitted to an incident of misbehavior towards Swati Maliwal, a former chief of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). This acknowledgment comes a day after Swati Maliwal approached the Delhi police, alleging assault by Arvind Kejriwal’s assistant, Bibhav Kumar, inside the Delhi chief minister’s residence.
Swati Maliwal, a senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member, visited the Civil Lines police station on Monday morning to report the alleged assault.
Although she did not file an official complaint, she claimed to have been assaulted by Bibhav Kumar while waiting to meet Arvind Kejriwal at his house in Delhi.
The incident, which AAP MP Sanjay Singh described as “condemnable,” reportedly occurred in Arvind Kejriwal’s drawing room. Sanjay Singh stated that Kejriwal has taken note of the matter and assured that appropriate action will be taken against the individual involved.

As per the Delhi Police, Swati Maliwal called the PCR number at 9:34 am on Monday, reporting the alleged assault by Bibhav Kumar. She subsequently visited the police station at 10 am but left after five minutes without lodging a formal complaint. It is reported that she left after being informed about the requirement of a mandatory medical examination in assault cases.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticize AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, labeling Kejriwal’s residence as a “boxing ring.” The BJP drew parallels to a previous incident where former Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash was also allegedly assaulted at Kejriwal’s house.
This incident has sparked controversy and drawn attention to the treatment of women within political circles. It underscores the importance of addressing such allegations seriously and ensuring appropriate action is taken to uphold respect and dignity for all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
