In a significant diplomatic gesture, Xu Feihong, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to India, officially handed over the working copy of his Letter of Credence to Rohit Rathish, the acting Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of External Affairs. The ceremony took place on Tuesday at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan.

Expressing his satisfaction at the event, Xu Feihong conveyed his pleasure in presenting the Letter of Credence to Mr. Rathish, underscoring the importance of fostering bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations.

Xu Feihong, who arrived in New Delhi on May 10, assumed his role as the 17th Chinese Ambassador to India, marking the end of an over 18-month gap since the departure of his predecessor, Sun Weidong, in October 2022.

In his inaugural statements, Ambassador Xu emphasized the longstanding cultural ties between India and China, highlighting the mutual significance of their relationship. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening understanding and cooperation across various domains, aiming to enhance bilateral ties to the benefit of both nations and the global community.

Referring to the words of President Xi Jinping, Xu emphasized the potential impact of unified voices from China and India on the international stage, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the two countries.

Looking ahead, Xu Feihong expressed his dedication to fostering dialogue and cooperation, stressing the shared interests of both nations in maintaining a stable and prosperous relationship. He reassured that his efforts are aligned with the aspirations of the people and the international community, aiming to create a conducive environment for a robust China-India relationship.

As the diplomatic landscape between India and China continues to evolve, Xu Feihong’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in bilateral relations, signaling a renewed commitment to dialogue and cooperation between the two Asian giants.
