On Thursday, a team from the Delhi Police visited the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal to gather her statement regarding an alleged assault. The incident reportedly involved a member of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s staff, Bibhav Kumar.
Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and former head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), had filed a written complaint over the assault, which took place at the Chief Minister’s official residence.
The police team, led by an Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), spent nearly four hours interviewing Maliwal, seeking detailed information about the incident and the circumstances leading to her Police Control Room (PCR) call on Monday. As per the Delhi Police sources, Maliwal’s statements have prompted legal proceedings to be initiated in the case.

Maliwal alleged on Monday that Bibhav Kumar, a member of Kejriwal’s personal staff, assaulted her. Although no formal complaint was filed immediately after the incident, AAP confirmed the allegations the following day. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal directed strict action to be taken, with senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh describing the incident as “highly condemnable.”
While Maliwal and AAP have spoken out about the incident, Arvind Kejriwal has remained silent, drawing criticism from BJP leaders. Kumar, who is perceived as a key figure in the Chief Minister’s office, has been summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) to appear before the agency for a hearing on Friday at 11 AM.
The incident has sparked controversy, with the BJP staging a protest near Kejriwal’s residence on Wednesday. Questions have been raised about the Chief Minister’s response to the allegations, particularly given Kumar’s position within his office. The situation remains tense as investigations continue and political tensions rise.
