Recent protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) have brought attention to the region’s long-standing grievances. The protests, marked by intense violence and significant casualties, highlight the dissatisfaction of the local population with the policies imposed by the Pakistani government.
Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson for Bharat’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), addressed the issue during a press briefing. He stated that the unrest in PoJK is a direct result of policies that have deprived the local people of their resources. Jaiswal emphasized that the people in the region are not benefiting from their own resources, which are being exploited instead.
Jaiswal reiterated Bharat’s stance on the territorial integrity of the region. He declared that Jammu, Ladakh, and Kashmir, including the areas occupied by Pakistan, are and will always remain integral parts of Bharat.

Following the government’s announcement, the protesters decided to call off their demonstrations. The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) confirmed that all their demands were accepted. Despite this, they declared a state-wide shutter-down until 3 pm on Tuesday to honor those who lost their lives during the protests.
The recent protests in PoJK underscore the deep-seated issues and dissatisfaction among the local population regarding resource exploitation and deprivation.
