A medical examination report of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal has revealed multiple bruises on her face and leg following an alleged assault by Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, at the Chief Minister’s residence on May 13. The Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre at AIIMS, Delhi, confirmed that Maliwal sustained injuries to four parts of her body, including her left leg and below her right eye. The examination was conducted on Thursday, with the report being published the following day.
According to Maliwal’s medico-legal certificate (MLC), she has “bruises over proximal left leg dorsal aspect of approximately 3×2 cm and right cheek elbow below right eye of approximately 2×2 cm.” The report, based on the history provided by Maliwal, indicates she was “slapped multiple times” and “hit her head on a sharp object after being pushed” by Kumar. She fell to the floor and was subsequently “hit multiple times on her chest, abdomen, and pelvis.” Maliwal is currently experiencing pain in her thighs, pelvis, neck stiffness, and headache.
The report, however, did not specify the nature of the injuries.
Maliwal has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police, alleging that Kumar slapped her, beat her with sticks, and hit her in the stomach, leading to physical assault charges. Consequently, an FIR was registered against Kumar on Thursday.
This incident follows Maliwal’s initial allegations on Monday, when she claimed that Kumar assaulted her at the Chief Minister’s official residence. AAP responded to the charges the following day, confirming the allegations and stating that Kejriwal has ordered strict action.
On Saturday morning, a Delhi Police team conducted an investigation and videography of Kejriwal’s residence. On Friday, Maliwal revisited the residence to recreate the crime scene, accompanied by a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and Delhi Police officers.
In a twist, Bibhav Kumar has filed a counter-complaint against Maliwal, accusing her of attempting to “falsely implicate” him to “create undue pressure.” Kumar claims Maliwal forcefully and unauthorizedly entered the Chief Minister’s residence, trying to “create a ruckus and assault” him. He has requested an investigation into Maliwal’s interactions with BJP leaders, suggesting political motives behind the allegations.
Kumar urges the police to scrutinize Maliwal’s call records and communications, alleging that the incident might be influenced by the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
