In a security operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) apprehended four terrorists associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday afternoon.
The four men, identified as Sri Lankan citizens, had traveled from Sri Lanka to Chennai and then to Ahmedabad. According to sources from the media, these individuals were part of a larger plot to carry out a major terrorist attack in Bharat. The Gujarat ATS acted on intelligence inputs and detained the suspects before they could reach their intended target.
Terrorist Plot and Communication
Investigations revealed that the terrorists were waiting for instructions from their handler based in Pakistan. Encrypted messages found on their mobile phones indicated that they were in communication with their handler and were expecting further orders.
In addition, it was discovered that weapons were to be delivered to them separately. The ATS has taken the suspects to a secret location for interrogation to gather more information about their plans and connections.
The exact reasons for their arrival at Ahmedabad airport and the specifics of their intended target are still under investigation.
This operation follows another arrest last year when police apprehended several suspects from Porbandar, dismantling an Indian module of a terrorist organization. The continuous efforts by the Gujarat ATS highlight the ongoing threats and the need for vigilance in combating terrorism.
The swift action by the Gujarat ATS has potentially thwarted a major terrorist attack, ensuring the safety and security of the area within the country. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover more details and prevent any further threats.
