According to the Election Commission, the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections saw a voter turnout of 47.53% across 49 parliamentary constituencies by 3 PM.
State-Wise Turnout
Ladakh had the highest voter turnout at 61.26%, leading the participation rate among the eight states and Union Territories.
- West Bengal followed closely with a turnout of 62.72%.Jharkhand reported 53.90% voter turnout.
- Uttar Pradesh saw 47.55% of its electorate casting their votes.
- Odisha recorded a turnout of 48.95%.
- Jammu and Kashmir had a turnout of 44.90%.
- Bihar reported 45.33% voter participation.
- Maharashtra had the lowest state-wide turnout at 38.77%.
Mumbai’s Voter Turnout
In Mumbai, the turnout remained below 40% in most constituencies by 3 PM:
- Mumbai North recorded 39.33%.
- Mumbai North Central saw 37.66%.
- Mumbai North East had 39.15%.
- Mumbai North West recorded 39.91%.
- Mumbai South had the lowest turnout in the city with 36.64%.
- Mumbai South Central saw a turnout of 38.77%.
Over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.69 crore males, 4.26 crore females, and 5409 third-gender electors, are participating in this phase. The election features key contests with prominent leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Chirag Paswan, Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah, and Rohini Acharya vying for seats.
To ensure a peaceful election, the Election Commission has deployed 2,000 flying squads, 2,105 static surveillance teams, 881 video surveillance teams, and 502 video viewing teams across 94,732 polling stations.
In addition, 216 international border check posts and 565 inter-state border check posts are monitoring for any illegal activities involving liquor, drugs, cash, or freebies. Security has also been heightened on sea and air routes.

Cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Lucknow, known for low urban voter turnout, participated in this phase. Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of seats being contested (14), followed by Maharashtra (13), West Bengal (7), Bihar (5), Odisha (5), Jharkhand (3), and one each from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
