Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview with PTI, reiterated his previous assertion that Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had implied he wouldn’t speak out against industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani if they sent him cash.
Modi pointed to Chowdhury’s reaction when questioned about speaking against Adani and Ambani, where he sarcastically remarked that he does speak against them because they don’t send him money, hinting at a potential silence in exchange for financial support.
Modi highlighted a shift in the Congress’ campaign strategy, noting that while Gandhi had previously focused on criticizing Ambani and Adani, this stance changed abruptly as elections approached.
The PM emphasized Chowdhury’s comments as validation of his claim, suggesting that the Congress leader’s response indicated a willingness to stay silent in the face of financial incentives from these industrialists.
PM Modi further also stated that, “I have not spoken a word against minorities. I am speaking against the vote bank politics of Congress. I am speaking on the Congress working against the Constitution. The Constitution makers of India, including Babasaheb Ambedkar and Pandit (Jawaharlal) Nehru, decided that reservation will not be given on the basis of religion. Now that you are turning away from that, it is my responsibility to expose them. BJP is never against the minority.”

Addressing allegations of crony capitalism, Modi defended his government’s actions, citing the independent functioning of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He asserted that under his leadership, these agencies had seized illegal assets worth ₹1 lakh crore, highlighting a commitment to combating corruption and unlawful practices.
