On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her comments against the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
During a Lok Sabha election rally in Jhargram, West Bengal, Modi accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of creating a climate of fear among religious monks to gain political advantage.
Modi alleged that TMC supporters were responsible for attacking the ashram of Ramakrishna Mission, an act he described as an attempt to intimidate the monks. He condemned this as a shameful effort by the TMC to undermine the religious sentiments of Hindus in the state.
Modi claimed that on Sunday night, the Ramakrishna Mission ashram in Jalpaiguri was attacked, and he warned that the people of Bengal would not tolerate such actions.

The Prime Minister also addressed Mamata Banerjee’s recent accusations against the monks of these religious organizations. Banerjee had alleged that some monks from the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha were acting under the influence of the BJP.
She claimed that monks from the Ramakrishna Mission had encouraged voters in Asansol to support the BJP, and that a monk from Bharat Sevashram Sangha had prevented a TMC agent from staying at a polling station in Baharampur, Murshidabad.
Responding to these allegations, both the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha firmly denied any political involvement. They emphasized that their primary focus is on social service and not on politics.
Modi’s comments highlighted the tension between the BJP and TMC in the run-up to the elections, with both parties accusing each other of exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
The Prime Minister praised organizations like ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, and Bharat Sevashram Sangha for their dedication to service and morality, and he criticized the TMC for threatening these groups to appease their vote bank.
The ongoing political battle in West Bengal continues to intensify, with religious organizations becoming a central issue in the conflict between the BJP and TMC. The people of West Bengal are watching closely as the two parties clash over the future direction of the state, with both sides appealing to the electorate’s religious and social sensibilities.
