As Bharat gears up for the Lok Sabha elections, the US Ambassador to Bharat, Eric Garcetti, has expressed admiration for the country’s democratic process. He described Bharat’s election, the world’s largest democratic exercise, as “extraordinary” and “inspiring.”
Garcetti, a first-time observer of Bharatiya elections, commended the vibrant campaigning and rallies across the nation. Speaking to ANI, he conveyed his awe at witnessing the energy and enthusiasm of the political landscape in Bharat.

With the Lok Sabha elections unfolding across seven phases, Garcetti wished Bharat and its citizens luck for the upcoming polls, scheduled for counting on June 4. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeks a third consecutive term, while the opposition INDIA bloc aims to challenge their dominance.
Prime Minister Modi, contesting from Varanasi, aims to secure his third term from the constituency, having won with significant margins in the previous elections.
Garcetti also highlighted the economic partnership between Bharat and the United States, referring to them as “natural partners.” He emphasized the potential for both countries to drive economic growth, create jobs, and contribute to global prosperity by collaborating on various fronts, including diversifying supply chains and expanding into emerging markets.

Additionally, Garcetti spoke about the burgeoning collaboration in the space sector between Bharat and the US. He emphasized the strengthening relationship between the two nations, both on Earth and in space, noting significant advancements in space exploration and satellite technology.
Highlighting a milestone achievement, Garcetti revealed plans for Bharat to send its astronauts on an American mission this year. He also mentioned the joint development and launch of a satellite aimed at contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
Garcetti concluded by underscoring the profound transformation in the Bharat-US relationship, extending from terrestrial partnerships to celestial endeavors. He emphasized the significance of this partnership in shaping the future of both countries and contributing to global progress and innovation.
