In a scathing revelation, it has been found that the 17-year-old teen of a prominent builder in Pune who appeared before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) following his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, killing two individuals is also the grandson of a well-known figure in the city’s construction industry.
The recent revelations have shed light that the grandfather has alleged ties to the underworld. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the grandfather was implicated in a case dating back to 2009, where he purportedly hired a mercenary from Chhota Rajan’s gang to assassinate a Shiv Sena corporator, Ajay Bhosale. The CBI alleges that the builder initially engaged Chhota Rajan to mediate a property dispute with his brother but later conspired to eliminate Bhosale, whom he perceived as a threat.
Bhosale recounted the incident, stating that he was targeted by a hired hitman while driving through Koregaon Park in 2009. Although he escaped unscathed, his driver sustained injuries from a gunshot fired at their car. The case was initially investigated by the Bund Garden police station, without mentioning the builder’s involvement. However, the CBI later took over the investigation, implicating the builder as the mastermind behind the assassination plot.
In its charge sheet, the CBI named the builder as the sixth accused alongside Chhota Rajan. The agency alleges that the builder maintained communication with Rajan through his associate, Vijay Tambat, and instructed the gangster to orchestrate Bhosale’s murder to coerce his brother into complying with their demands.
Despite the charges, the builder managed to secure anticipatory bail and has yet to face imprisonment. However, he remains accused of his alleged ties to the underworld and his role in the assassination plot.
Responding to inquiries regarding the builder’s connections to organized crime, Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the police would thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
