Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal recounted a harrowing ordeal she faced on May 13, alleging that she was assaulted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, in the presence of Kejriwal himself. This narration directly contradicted Kejriwal’s earlier statement, where he claimed he was not present at the scene of the alleged assault.
Maliwal detailed the incident in an interview with ANI, providing a verbal account that differed from her initial FIR against Bibhav. She disclosed that she had visited Kejriwal’s residence around 9 am on May 13, expecting to meet Kejriwal. However, Bibhav entered the room and assaulted her before Kejriwal’s arrival, she claimed.
According to Maliwal, Bibhav slapped her multiple times, pulled her to the floor, and kicked her, causing her head to bang against a table, all while she screamed for help to no avail.
Expressing bewilderment at the lack of intervention during the assault, Maliwal emphasized her cries for help went unanswered. When questioned about whether Bibhav acted on his own or was instructed to assault her, Maliwal asserted that it remains a matter for investigation.

She expressed cooperation with the ongoing investigation into the incident, refusing to absolve anyone of responsibility, including Kejriwal.
In response, the Delhi Police had scheduled to record the statement of Kejriwal’s parents, who were reportedly present during the assault. However, sources indicated that the police did not proceed with the recording of statements from Kejriwal’s parents on the scheduled day.
Kejriwal, on his part, took to social media platform X to share his anticipation for the police’s visit with his parents and wife. He revealed that the police had contacted his parents the previous day to arrange for interrogation but had not confirmed their visit as of yet. The status of the police inquiry into the matter remains uncertain as the investigation continues.
