Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark the end of his campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections with a 48-hour spiritual retreat at Tamil Nadu’s Vivekananda Rock Memorial, reports say. The Prime Minister, the foremost campaigner for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will arrive at the picturesque memorial off the coast of Kanyakumari on May 30 and is expected to depart for Delhi on June 1, the final day of polling, according to sources.
The campaign for the seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will conclude on Wednesday, May 30, with results set to be announced on June 4.
During his stay, the 73-year-old Prime Minister will meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam, the hall at the Memorial, from the evening of May 30 until the evening of June 1. The Memorial holds significant spiritual value as Swami Vivekananda is believed to have meditated there for three days, achieving enlightenment, on a rock situated approximately 500 meters off the mainland where the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea converge.
The sixth phase of polling, covering 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, concluded on May 25. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is seeking a historic third term under Prime Minister Modi, aiming to secure 400 seats. The ruling alliance faces stiff competition from opposition parties led by Congress under the INDIA bloc. The seventh and final phase of polling will occur on June 1, encompassing 57 constituencies across eight states and Union Territories.
Varanasi, the Uttar Pradesh constituency held by PM Modi, will also vote on June 1. In 2019, ahead of the Lok Sabha Election results, PM Modi was seen meditating in a holy cave near Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. The BJP secured a decisive victory that year, winning 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
