Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of Varanasi through a video message ahead of the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. This election is being conducted in seven phases, and Varanasi will be voting in the last phase.
In his message, Modi described Varanasi, also known as Kashi, as a city filled with devotion, power, and detachment. He emphasized its cultural significance, calling it the cultural capital of the world and a land renowned for its music.
Reflecting on his tenure as the representative of Varanasi, Modi expressed gratitude. He attributed his ability to serve the city to the “immense grace of Baba Vishwanath” and the blessings of the people of Varanasi.

Modi highlighted the importance of the upcoming election, stating that it is a crucial moment not only for Varanasi but for the entire nation. He framed it as an election for the creation of a new Varanasi and a developed Bharat. He urged the residents of Varanasi to set a new record in voter turnout on June 1.
During his address, Modi spoke about the transformation Varanasi has undergone over the past decade. He mentioned that the city has become a hub for youth welfare and development. He recalled the enthusiasm among young people during his nomination and requested that this enthusiasm be visible at every polling booth.
Prime Minister Modi is seeking a consecutive third term in the Lok Sabha from Varanasi. The INDIA bloc has fielded Ajay Rai, the Congress Uttar Pradesh president, against Modi. Rai had previously invited Priyanka Gandhi to contest from Varanasi, but the party decided to field him again.

Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, has nominated a local candidate, Athar Jamal Lari. There are also three independent candidates in the race. In the previous elections, Rai finished third, while Modi won against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal in 2014 and Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Shalini Yadav in 2019 by a significant margin. Notably, Shalini Yadav later joined the BJP.
As the election approaches, Modi’s message aims to galvanize support and encourage a high voter turnout, emphasizing the broader implications for both Varanasi and Bharat.
