The seventh phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 is underway, with voters in 57 constituencies across eight states and Union territories casting their ballots. By 11 am, the overall polling percentage stood at approximately 26.30%, according to the Election Commission’s voter-turnout app.
State-Wise Voter Turnout
- Bihar
In Bihar, the voter turnout reached 24.25% by 11 am. Among the key constituencies is Pataliputra, where Misa Bharti, the eldest daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, is contesting against BJP’s Ram Kripal Yadav.
- Chandigarh
Chandigarh recorded a voter turnout of 25.03% by 11 am. The battle here features BJP’s Sanjay Tandon against Congress nominee and former Union minister Manish Tewari, who is supported by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
- Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh saw the highest turnout among the states, with 31.92% of voters casting their ballots by 11 am. In Mandi, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, representing BJP, is making her electoral debut against Vikramaditya Singh of Congress.
- Jharkhand
Jharkhand’s voter turnout stood at 29.55% by 11 am. Three constituencies in the state are participating in this phase of the elections.
- Odisha
In Odisha, 22.64% of the electorate had voted by 11 am. This phase includes polling for the remaining 42 assembly constituencies in the state.
- Punjab
Punjab recorded a voter turnout of 23.91% by 11 am. Voters are casting their ballots in 13 seats across the state.
- Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh, the state with the largest number of constituencies in this phase, saw a voter turnout of 28.02% by 11 am. One of the prominent seats is Varanasi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking his third term.
- West Bengal
In West Bengal, the voter turnout was 28.10% by 11 am. Nine constituencies in the state are involved in this phase.
Several high-profile contests are taking place in this phase. In addition to the ones mentioned above, there are a total of 904 candidates vying for seats in the 57 constituencies.
The turnout in the previous six phases of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 has been relatively low compared to 2019. The percentages recorded were 66.14%, 66.71%, 65.68%, 69.16%, 62.2%, and 63.36% respectively.

The Election Commission of India has made adequate arrangements for polling in this seventh phase. In total, voting has been held on 486 Lok Sabha seats in the previous six phases, and today’s voting will add to the final count. One of the key seats being contested today is Varanasi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a candidate.
The elections are crucial, and the turnout in this phase will be a significant indicator of the public’s engagement in the democratic process this year.
