The Delhi Airport authority received a threat regarding a bomb allegedly planted on the Delhi-bound Indigo flight number 6E 2232.
The flight was coming from Varanasi to the national capital on Saturday evening, when the bomb scare was flagged.
Immediately after the threat was received, the airport security and the IGI Airport police implemented preventive measures and evacuated a runway for the emergency landing of the aircraft.
As a precautionary measure, the passengers were alerted and terminals were also evacuated. The area around the runway was cordoned-off and all the emergency services were put in place in a high alert mode near the runway.
Amid high alert situation, the IndiGo 6E 2232, from Varanasi, landed at the airport at around 5.50 pm at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. As per the media sources, the flight was immediately taken to an isolated place and all the passengers were safely evacuated.
Following the evacuation of the flight, a search operation was initiated by the security forces and the bomb disposal squad.
Meanwhile, a bomb threat was reported aboard an IndiGo flight heading to Mumbai from Chennai. The flight, designated as 6E 5314, took off from Chennai at around 7 am on Saturday and landed at Mumbai airport at approximately 8:45 am.
Upon landing, Mumbai airport authorities swiftly initiated emergency protocols. The entire aircraft is currently being thoroughly searched. A full emergency was declared in response to the bomb threat. Passengers were safely deboarded at an isolation bay as a precautionary measure.
