Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, has secured a resounding win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, marking his second consecutive triumph at the helm.
The BJP, under his leadership, clinched a landslide victory in the recent elections, further solidifying Khandu’s stature as the foremost leader of the party in the northeastern region. This victory surpasses the party’s previous achievement, with the BJP securing 46 out of 60 seats, an improvement from their 2014 win of 41 seats.
Although the BJP leadership is yet to formally announce the next head of the government in the state, insiders indicate that Khandu is the frontrunner for another term.
Expressing gratitude to the dedicated party workers, Khandu affirmed his commitment to fulfilling the promises outlined in the BJP’s election manifesto, ensuring progress and development for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
I bow in gratitude to the great people of Arunachal Pradesh for their continued trust in the vision of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji and sincere efforts of Team Arunachal in taking care of the well-being of every section of society.

Khandu’s political journey traces back to his emergence after the tragic demise of his father, former Congress Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, in a helicopter crash in 2011.
Transitioning from the Congress to the BJP, Pema Khandu has played a pivotal role in the BJP’s ascendancy in Arunachal Pradesh, overcoming challenges and adversities along the way.
The political landscape in Arunachal Pradesh saw significant shifts in recent years, including the dismissal of the Congress-led government in 2016 and subsequent realignments of political alliances.
Khandu’s adept maneuvering led him to helm governments of different parties within a short span, showcasing his adaptability and leadership prowess.
Despite facing controversies such as allegations of improprieties in public service commissions and accusations of favoritism in awarding contracts, Khandu has managed to maintain his popularity through extensive outreach efforts. His relentless engagement with constituents across remote areas has bolstered both his personal image and the BJP’s standing in the state.
Strategic alliances, such as the pre-poll understanding with the National Peoples’ Party (NPP), have also contributed to the BJP’s electoral success. By forging alliances and leveraging coalition partnerships, Khandu’s administration has navigated complex political dynamics to secure victories and maintain stability in the state.

In the recent elections, the NPP emerged as the second-largest party, underscoring the evolving political landscape in Arunachal Pradesh. Despite speculations of potential support from the NPP in the event of a shortfall in numbers, the BJP’s decisive win rendered such scenarios moot, reaffirming Khandu’s leadership and the BJP’s dominance in the state.
As Pema Khandu gears up for another term at the helm, his leadership promises continuity and progress for Arunachal Pradesh, with a focus on fulfilling the aspirations of its people and steering the state towards prosperity and development.
