Bookies in Delhi are predicting that the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win more than 340 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. This prediction aligns with most exit poll results. They also believe the opposition alliance, known as INDIA, will secure around 200 seats.
According to sources within the betting community in Delhi, the NDA is expected to win between 341 and 343 seats, while the INDIA bloc may get between 198 and 200 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a major part of the NDA, is projected to win 310 to 313 seats on its own. Meanwhile, the Congress party, which is part of the INDIA bloc, could secure between 57 and 59 seats.
In Delhi, which has seven Lok Sabha seats, bookies have predicted that the INDIA bloc will win just one seat.
The betting market opened two weeks ago, and so far, crores of rupees have been wagered on the election results. The bets are being placed not only by people in Delhi but also by punters from abroad. In the betting world, a punter is someone who places bets, while a bookie is the one who sets the stakes and earns through commissions.

Police officials, speaking anonymously, said they are closely monitoring bookies and punters because betting is illegal in Bharat. Those caught betting can be charged under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to seven years in prison.
The betting rates for the NDA are low because their chances of winning are seen as very high. In contrast, bets on the INDIA bloc are considered risky, so the rates are higher.
While bookies are predicting a comfortable victory for the NDA, they have ruled out the possibility of the alliance winning more than 400 seats. A Dubai-based bookie network has also forecasted a significant majority for the NDA.
Police have noted that many people have placed multiple bets to cover potential losses. If they lose money on one bet, they hope to recover it through another.
BJP leaders are optimistic, predicting their party will win more than 400 seats. On the other hand, the INDIA bloc is confident it will win 295 seats.
The final phase of the seven-phase election took place on June 1. The votes for all 543 Lok Sabha seats will be counted on Tuesday.
