The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India are being declared today, June 4, 2024, after a prolonged election process that spanned from April 19 to June 1. This election saw participation from over 642 million voters, marking the highest participation of women voters in Indian electoral history.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is seeking a third consecutive term. Throughout the campaign, Modi and other BJP leaders have focused on their achievements and criticized the opposition for corruption and inefficiency. The opposition, including major figures from the Congress party and the INDIA bloc, has been vocal about the BJP’s handling of key issues and the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), which were once again a point of contention (Election Commission of India) (India Today).
