Ravi Kishan Leads in Gorakhpur by 74,536 Votes

Ravi Kishan, the actor-turned-politician and BJP leader, is currently leading the race for the Gorakhpur seat in Uttar Pradesh with a significant margin of 74,536 votes. He is competing against Kajal Nishad from the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Javed Simanani from the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).

Gorakhpur became a Lok Sabha constituency in 1952, and the Congress party initially dominated by winning the first eight elections. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained control in 1984.

The constituency is notably significant because it is the hometown of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Adityanath represented Gorakhpur as an MP from 1998 until 2017, when he became the Chief Minister. Following his resignation from Parliament, the seat was won by SP leader Praveen Nishad.

Ravi Kishan’s Political Journey

In the 2019 elections, Ravi Kishan secured the Gorakhpur seat, defeating SP’s Rambhual Nishad by a margin of over three lakh votes. Kishan’s political career began in 2014 when he joined the Congress party. He contested the Lok Sabha election from the Jaunpur constituency but lost to a BJP candidate. In 2017, he switched allegiance to the BJP.

Before entering politics, Ravi Kishan was a well-known actor and model. His acting career spans Bhojpuri, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, with appearances in Kannada and Tamil films as well.

He gained popularity after participating in the reality show Big Boss in 2006, where he finished as the second runner-up. In 2008, he was honored with the Most Popular Actor award at the ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman function.

In 2010, Ravi Kishan hosted the reality show Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka on NDTV Imagine for two seasons. He has worked with renowned directors such as Shyam Benegal and Mani Ratnam. Kishan also participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 5 in 2012. In 2013, he served as one of the judges on the reality TV show Sales Ka Bazigar, which was aired on ETV.

Ravi Kishan’s transition from the entertainment industry to politics has been marked by significant achievements. With a substantial lead in the current elections, he continues to be a prominent figure in both fields. His journey reflects a successful crossover from acting to political leadership.
