Maharashtra, the financial state of Bharat, has witnessed significant political changes mid-term, including a change in government and splits within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). These changes have influenced the political landscape in the current Lok Sabha polls.
The INDI alliance is leading in 28 seats across Maharashtra, while the Mahayuti alliance is ahead in 17 seats. The Election Commission reports that the BJP is leading in 13 seats, the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) are each leading in 11 seats, the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) is leading in 6 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) in 5 seats, and the NCP in one seat. In addition, one Independent candidate is leading in a seat. Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats.

In the highly-watched constituency of Baramati, NCP candidate Supriya Sule is leading with 8,689 votes, while Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is trailing.
Supriya Sule, a sitting MP and sister-in-law to Sunetra Pawar, is aiming for her fourth term from Baramati. She previously defeated BJP candidate Kanchan Rahul Kul in 2019.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal is leading with 96,330 votes against Congress candidate Bhushan Patil. In Nanded, Chavan Vasantrao Balwantrao is leading with 3,651 votes against BJP’s Chikhalikar Prataprao Govindrao.
In Nagpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is leading with 40,603 votes against Indian National Congress candidate Vikas Thare.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 41 seats in Maharashtra, while the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) won 5 seats. The BJP is aiming for a third consecutive term in power, while the Opposition, under the INDIA bloc, seeks to challenge the ruling party.
Most exit polls predict a straight term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with many projecting a two-thirds majority for the BJP-led NDA. Some polls even predict that the BJP will improve its numbers from the 303 seats won in the 2019 elections.
In 2019, the NDA won 353 seats, with the BJP securing 303 of those. The UPA managed only 93 seats, with the Congress winning 52.
On July 2 of last year, Ajit Pawar left the MVA and joined the BJP-led NDA, becoming Deputy Chief Minister for the fifth time. He took eight MLAs from the Sharad Pawar faction, currently in opposition in the state Legislative Assembly, to support the Eknath Shinde-led government.
