The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by Chandrababu Naidu, is on the brink of a major political comeback in Andhra Pradesh. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reported that TDP is heading for a landslide victory in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. TDP Leading in Lok Sabha Polls
In the Lok Sabha elections, TDP is leading in 16 out of the 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh. The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is leading in 4 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 3, and the Jana Sena Party (JNP) in 2 seats. This marks a remarkable performance for TDP, demonstrating a strong resurgence in the state’s political arena.
The elections for the 543 Lok Sabha members were conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Andhra Pradesh’s Lok Sabha elections were held simultaneously with the state Assembly polls during the fourth phase on May 13.
The voter turnout was impressive, with 80.66% of eligible voters participating in the elections for the 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly constituencies.

Leading TDP candidates include Daggumalla Prasada Rao in Chittoor (SC), Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in Srikakulam, and Sribharat Mathukumili in Visakhapatnam. Other significant TDP candidates are Appalanaidu Kalisetti in Vizianagaram, G M Harish in Amalapuram (SC), and Putta Mahesh Kumar in Eluru.
YSRCP’s prominent candidates include Peddireddy Venkata Midhun Reddy in Rajampet, Gumma Thanuja Rani in Araku (ST), and Y. S. Avinash Reddy in Kadapa.
In Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP contested all 25 Lok Sabha seats, aiming to maintain its dominance in the state. The Indian National Congress (INC) fielded candidates for 23 seats as part of the INDIA alliance, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Communist Party of India (CPI) each contesting one seat.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) saw the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) contesting 17 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielding candidates in 6 seats, and the Jana Sena Party (JNP) contesting 2 seats.
The YSR Congress Party’s campaign emphasized the welfare measures implemented over the past five years. In contrast, the NDA focused on criticizing the state government’s “failures” and promised significant improvements, including job creation and various benefits if voted to power.
