Prime Minister Modi secured a third term in office, although the BJP will likely need to garner support from other coalition partners, notably JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
The 2024 Lok Sabha election results saw the BJP winning 240 seats, a decrease from its 2019 tally of 303. Meanwhile, the Congress party witnessed significant progress, securing 99 seats. The emergence of the INDIA bloc, surpassing the 230-seat mark, provided formidable competition, defying earlier predictions.
The Election Commission of India confirmed the outcome of the elections after the counting process on Tuesday. Global leaders, including those from neighboring countries like Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, along with leaders from countries such as Israel, Ukraine, Italy, and Jamaica, offered congratulatory messages to Prime Minister Modi and the BJP-led NDA government on their consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
