The swearing-in ceremony for the eagerly awaited third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is set to take place today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Key MPs likely to assume ministerial roles, including Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha, have begun arriving at the venue. Earlier, PM-designate Modi interacted with MPs who are expected to join the Council of Ministers.
Among the returning Union ministers in Modi 3.0, S. Jaishankar and Nitin Gadkari are expected to retain their positions. Prominent figures such as Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, and Dharmendra Pradhan are also anticipated to continue their roles in the Cabinet.
The ceremony will see attendance from notable dignitaries from India’s neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has confirmed his attendance, while Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee announced that her party would not be present.
Scheduled for 7.15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Modi’s swearing-in ceremony will match the electoral record of India’s first PM, Jawaharlal Nehru. The event will be secured with multi-layered security, featuring five companies of paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers, ensuring a smooth and secure transition of power.
