After the dreadful terror attack on Hindu Pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi by Pakistan-backed terrorists that claimed ten innocent lives leaving 33 injured, PM Narendra Modi came down heavily upon his Pakistani counterparts. Responding to the congratulatory messages of Shehbaz Sharif and former PM Nawaz Sharif, PM Modi reiterated that “for India, security of its citizens will always remain a priority since threats of terrorism by Pakistan-backed terror outfits continue to loom. The newly inducted ministers in the Modi 3.0 government slammed Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism, adding that if such incidents persist, “India will have to start a war with Pakistan”.
PM Narendra Modi’s polite yet stern message to Pakistan against their endorsement of terrorist factions came after Nawaz Sharif urged India to reconsider its ties with Islamabad. However, remaining firm on India’s long-standing position regarding Pakistan, PM Modi clarified that the two sides cannot hold talks under the shadow of terrorism emanating from the neighboring nation.
Reiterating the same stance, EAM S. Jaishankar on Tuesday underscored that as the PM Modi government takes charge for the third consecutive term, the focus would be on finding solutions to Pakistan’s “years of cross-border terrorism”. While assuming charge as External Affairs Minister for a second consecutive term, Jaishankar underlined that in the current “turbulent and divided world”, cross border terrorism cannot be the policy.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale remarked that the attack on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims was a deliberate act to spark fear on the same day when PM Modi took oath for the third rare term. He asserted that if such deliberate attempts of harboring terrorism continue, India would have to start a war with Pakistan. BYTE, VIDEO A, full, Ramdas Athawale
Following the cowardly attack on innocent civilians in Jammu on Sunday, the terror outfit threatened more attacks targeting “tourists and non-locals,” describing the Reasi attack as the “beginning of a renewed start.” Although, former prime minister of POJK, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan made startling claims on his official handle on X, warning Pakistan of the repercussions of its actions saying “Pakistan should be fully prepared for any Indian misadventure in Azad Kashmir in the pretext of Riasi attack”.
The terror attack on Sunday by “The Resistance Front”, backed by Pakistan and a front of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba took responsibility for the attack. TRF is designated as a terrorist organization by the Indian government in 2023, and sources revealed that the terrorists used M4 carbines – American-made assault rifles used extensively by Pakistani special forces and the Special Security Unit of the Sindh Police.
Meanwhile, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack, stating that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are personally monitoring the situation and underscored that the guilty will not be spared. Sinha announced an ex-gratia amount of ₹10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the terror attack. ₹50,000 will be given to those who got injured in the attack. A joint search operation is underway by the security personnel as reports suggested that at least two terrorists are hiding in the upper and forested reaches of the Reasi region.
