Israeli soldier, Major Omri stated, “On October 7, I was in my house with my family on a holiday vacation. It was a holiday in Israel at the time. We woke up at 06:00 in the morning from the huge sound of a missile that bombed right near our house. The whole house was shaking. I took my head out of the window and saw a big explosion near my house. Took my uniform, my pistol, and my gun, and drove to the south to help my friends and my unit to defend our country. Meanwhile, I heard on the radio when I was driving to the south, the terrorists got into Israel and slaughtered a lot of civilians that lived near the border of the Gaza Strip. When I got there, I saw a lot of wounded people, civilians and soldiers too. And I decided that I would rescue as many people…”
As Major Omri made his way towards the conflict zone, he heard distressing reports on the radio about terrorists slaughtering civilians near the Gaza Strip border. Upon arrival, he was confronted with a scene of chaos and devastation, with numerous casualties, both civilian and military. Despite the danger, he courageously assisted in rescuing wounded individuals, including those fleeing from a nearby event called the Nova party.
In the midst of the battle, Major Omri sustained a gunshot wound to his leg but managed to evacuate himself to the nearest hospital. He has since spent seven months undergoing rehabilitation and is determined to return to his unit to continue the fight against terrorism.

And we didn’t believe it or feel like it could be real. Then they called us to come to the army with all our team, and we went to the north without phones and nothing. We didn’t know anything about what was happening. Then a few days after October 11, they told me about one of my best friends, his name is Daniel Castiel, he was in the special unit, and he & two more friends died. It was tough for me…”
