This incident follows another terrorist attack that occurred two days earlier in the Reasi district of Jammu. In that attack, terrorists targeted a bus full of pilgrims, killing nine people and injuring 42 others. Security officials suspect that the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the bus attack.
Efforts to track down the terrorists involved in the Reasi attack have been extensive. The search operation entered its second day on Tuesday. Eleven teams of security personnel, including police, Army, and CRPF, are working together on the ground. They have set up a multi-directional cordon around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath area to catch the fleeing terrorists.
