One of the immediate actions taken by the new government was the release of ₹100 crore under the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme. This fund aims to support disabled individuals and provide old age pensions. Khandu reiterated the government’s commitment to making significant progress within the first 100 days of the new term.
Khandu highlighted the advancements in infrastructure that Arunachal Pradesh has seen over the past decade, including the development of an airport and improved railway connectivity. He stated that the government’s top priority remains increasing connectivity across the state, especially for unconnected villages and administrative headquarters.
Education and health are also major priorities for Khandu’s administration. The government plans to address the poor conditions of some school infrastructures and make improvements in these areas.
Looking ahead to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi has urged the new government to prepare a detailed plan for the first 100 days and the next five years. This preparation aims to ensure sustained progress and development in Arunachal Pradesh.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the DK State Convention Centre in Itanagar and was attended by prominent leaders, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Pema Khandu, 44, first became Chief Minister in 2016. His leadership has been reaffirmed by his re-election as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Arunachal Pradesh. The BJP secured 46 out of 60 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, with ten of those seats won unopposed even before the elections took place.
