In response to the recent terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained 50 suspects. The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, resulted in the death of nine people, including a minor, with 41 others injured. The bus, transporting pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, was targeted by terrorists and plunged into a gorge after being fired upon.

According to a police spokesperson, the detentions were made possible by an extensive investigation that yielded significant leads. These leads have been crucial in identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of involvement in planning and executing the attack.

To ensure a thorough investigation, search operations have been expanded to cover remote areas like Arnas and Mahore, which were known as terrorist hotspots in the past.

“The law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of all residents and visitors in the area,” the spokesperson emphasized. The ongoing operations aim not only to capture suspects but also to gather further evidence that could aid in preventing future attacks.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken additional measures to enhance security across various districts, including Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi, and Akhnoor. Intelligence agencies have issued warnings of potential ‘fidayeen’ (suicide) attacks by terrorist outfits on security forces’ camps and installations. As a precautionary measure, these areas have been placed on high alert.

In a separate development, the police have released sketches of four terrorists involved in attacks in Doda district and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to their arrest. This move underscores the authorities’ determination to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent further violence.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with authorities and locals alike expressing solidarity with the victims and their families. The focus remains on maintaining vigilance and ensuring the security of all those living in and visiting the region, particularly during times of heightened threat from terrorist activities.
