Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Italy’s Apulia to participate in the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, where he is attending as an Outreach country representative. This marks PM Modi’s first international trip after assuming office for the third consecutive term.
Upon his arrival at Brindisi Airport late Thursday night, PM Modi was warmly received by Bharat’s Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao, along with other officials. The G7 Summit is taking place at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort from June 13-15, and PM Modi’s presence is at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

In his departure statement, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for engaging in productive discussions with world leaders, addressing global challenges, and fostering international cooperation for a brighter future.
On the sidelines of the G7 Summit, PM Modi held a significant bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This encounter was particularly notable as it was their first meeting since the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023, which was PM Sunak’s inaugural visit to Bharat since taking office in October 2022.

The two leaders shared a warm hug as they met, reflecting the strong rapport between them. They engaged in discussions on various key global and regional issues, aiming to further strengthen the partnership between Bharat and the UK.
In addition to his meeting with PM Sunak, PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders were seen embracing warmly, highlighting the close ties between Bharat and France. Their discussions covered a wide range of topics, including defense, nuclear energy, space exploration, climate action, and education. Both leaders also exchanged views on critical global and regional issues, underscoring their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal detailed the engagements on social media, noting that PM Modi and President Macron discussed ways to strengthen partnerships in various domains such as digital public infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity, and culture. Jaiswal emphasized the shared vision of taking the Bharat-France strategic partnership to new levels.
