Amit Shah Reviews Security in Jammu and Kashmir
Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a high-level meeting in the national capital on Friday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This meeting follows a series of recent terrorist attacks in the region, raising serious concerns about security.
During the meeting, Shah directed officials to convene another detailed session on June 16 in North Block. This follow-up meeting aims to further evaluate the security situation and review preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, an important pilgrimage.
Senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) briefed Shah about the current security conditions and the measures being taken to counter terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The goal is to ensure the safety of residents and pilgrims, as well as maintain law and order in the state.

Expected attendees at the June 16 meeting include Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, as well as senior officials from the Army, Police, J&K administration, and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Since June 9, there have been terrorist attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda. These incidents have resulted in the deaths of nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan. In addition, a civilian was injured, and at least seven security personnel were wounded. These attacks have underscored the need for heightened vigilance and improved security measures.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a high-level meeting on Thursday to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This meeting included National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials, who provided a comprehensive overview of counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
During the meeting, PM Modi was briefed on the strategies and operations in place to combat terrorist activities. He also discussed the deployment of security forces and ongoing counter-terror operations with Home Minister Amit Shah. Moreover, the Prime Minister spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to review the local administration’s efforts and ensure robust security measures are in place.
The heightened focus on security in Jammu and Kashmir aims to protect residents and pilgrims, especially with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The government is taking significant steps to address the recent surge in terrorist activities and ensure peace and stability in the region.
