At the G7 Summit held in Italy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed Bharat’s dedication to advocating for the welfare of the Global South, emphasizing Africa’s pivotal role in global affairs. He underscored Bharat’s strong commitment to strengthening ties with Africa, noting the significant milestone during Bharat’s presidency when the African Union became a permanent member of the G20.
PM Modi addressed the G7 Outreach Session focusing on AI, Energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. He discussed the transformative impact of technology on human progress, stressing the critical importance of cybersecurity in today’s tech-driven world. Modi highlighted Bharat’s efforts in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for development, emphasizing the need for transparency, security, accessibility, and responsibility in AI deployment.
Regarding energy policy, PM Modi outlined Bharat’s approach based on availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. He reiterated Bharat’s commitment to surpassing its Climate Change Conference of the Parties (CoP) commitments ahead of schedule, striving towards a sustainable, green future under the principles of Mission LiFE. Modi also spotlighted Bharat’s environmental sustainability campaign, “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam,” aimed at fostering a more habitable planet for future generations.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi engaged in bilateral meetings with French President Macron, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Bharat participated in the G7 Summit as an outreach country, reflecting its growing role in global diplomacy and cooperation.
