Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his first foreign trip of his third term in office by attending the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. This visit marked an important milestone for Bharat on the international stage, as Modi engaged in significant discussions with world leaders.

During the G7 Summit, PM Modi met with several influential leaders, including British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Joe Biden, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. These interactions highlighted Bharat’s growing role in global affairs and its commitment to addressing international challenges.

On Saturday morning, PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with the summit’s outcomes. “Had a very productive day at the G7 Summit in Apulia. Interacted with world leaders and discussed various subjects. Together, we aim to create impactful solutions that benefit the global community and create a better world for future generations. Meeting with Justin Trudeau Amid Tensions

One notable interaction was PM Modi’s brief chat with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. This meeting came amid ongoing tensions between Bharat and Canada over the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year. Despite the strained relations, the two leaders exchanged views on the bilateral relationship. Trudeau’s office stated that he congratulated Modi on his re-election and discussed the Indo-Canadian ties.

Modi-Biden Interaction

PM Modi also had a separate conversation with US President Joe Biden. Following their discussion, Modi took to X, saying that Bharat and the United States would continue working together for global good.

During the summit, PM Modi emphasized the importance of ending monopolies in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence. His address highlighted Bharat’s push for greater technological equity and innovation on the world stage.

On the sidelines of the G7 Summit, PM Modi met with other global leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. These meetings further underscored Bharat’s active role in international diplomacy.

Bharat’s Growing Global Influence

The invitation to PM Modi to attend the G7 Summit indicates Bharat’s increasing prominence in global politics, particularly in the West’s strategy to counter China’s growing influence. Alongside Bharat, leaders from 11 developing countries, many from the Indo-Pacific region, were also invited, highlighting the summit’s broader focus on global cooperation.

PM Modi’s first international trip during his third term was marked by diplomatic engagements and discussions aimed at fostering global cooperation. His interactions with various world leaders and his participation in the G7 Summit showcased Bharat’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in addressing foreign challenges and promoting global welfare.
