Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has decided to retain his Raebareli seat, leaving the Wayanad constituency to his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who will make her poll debut there.
In the recent elections, Rahul Gandhi secured Raebareli by defeating BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh with a significant margin of 3,90,030 votes. Additionally, he retained the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 3,64,422 votes over his closest competitor, CPI(M) candidate Annie Raja.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul contested from both Amethi and Wayanad, losing Amethi to BJP’s Smriti Irani. However, the Congress reclaimed Amethi in the latest elections, with KL Sharma defeating Irani.
