Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, today. This is his first visit to the city after being re-elected as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.
During his visit, PM Modi will take part in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan. At this event, he will release the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, which aims to benefit over 9.26 crore farmers with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 20,000 crore.
The Prime Minister will also distribute certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups trained as Krishi Sakhis, who will serve as para-extension workers.
After the Sammelan, PM Modi will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer prayers. He will also participate in the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a significant cultural and spiritual event in Varanasi. The Prime Minister plans to spend the night in Varanasi and will leave for Bihar on Wednesday morning.
The event is expected to attract over 2.5 crore farmers. Farmers will join the event from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres across the country. Special events will be organized at 50 selected KVKs, where union ministers will interact with farmers.
The event will be attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and various state ministers.
During the event, farmers will be educated about good agricultural practices, emerging technologies in agriculture, climate-resilient agriculture, and how to check their PM-KISAN beneficiary status and payment status. They will also learn how to use the Kisan-eMitra Chatbot for various queries and assistance.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi secured a convincing victory in the Varanasi constituency. He defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a margin of 1,52,513 votes, receiving a total of 6,12,970 votes. Ajay Rai obtained 4,60,457 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ather Jamal Lari finished third with 33,766 votes.
On the 50 selected Krishi Vikas Kendras, special events are being organized, where a good number of farmers will gather. Several Union ministers will visit these centers and engage with the farmers, discussing various agricultural issues and solutions.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Varanasi highlights his commitment to the agricultural sector and his connection with his parliamentary constituency. The PM Kisan Samman Sammelan and other engagements during his visit aim to empower and educate farmers, ensuring their active participation in Bharat’s agricultural growth.
