In a significant operation, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF successfully neutralized a notorious terrorist, Umar Lone, in the Aragam area of Bandipora. Commander Vipul Tyagi of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) shared the details of the mission.
For some time, reports had been indicating terrorist activities in Aragam. The security forces had been closely monitoring the area. On the night of June 16-17, specific intelligence was received, prompting a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.

During the operation, an ambush party noticed suspicious movement. Acting on their instincts, they opened fire, resulting in the death of Umar Lone. Umar Lone was a Category 1 A terrorist, actively involved with the LeT and TRF since 2018. He had a record, including recruitment of terrorists, running an OGW (Over Ground Workers) network, and committing illegal killings.
Commander Tyagi emphasized the importance of this success, highlighting that eliminating Umar Lone is a major victory for the security forces. He also noted that in recent weeks, the high operational momentum of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF has led to several successful operations, resulting in the elimination of many long-standing terrorists.
Commander Tyagi acknowledged the support from the public in these operations and assured that such efforts would continue with the same zeal in the future.
